Agri-food Rotary Lobe Pumps – PLWX Series
The Agri-food Rotary Lobe Pumps – PLWX Series are ideal in the wine industry for transferring whole or crushed grapes and are particularly suitable for filling presses and pumping fermented grape from the fermentation tanks.
They have compact dimensions that allow them to be used in limited spaces.
They can work dry for short periods; moreover, they have reversible flow in both directions.
Accessibility to the internal parts of the pump housing is facilitated by the rear cover that can be opened on site without having to remove the pump from the piping.
The Agri-food Rotary Lobe Pumps – PLWX Series are designed and manufactured in accordance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004, they have the ability to create vacuum allowing suction even in unloaded pipe conditions and have a hygienically correct configuration of components and machine, thanks also to the presence of the quench oil chamber that creates an intermediate chamber between the gearbox and the pump housing; this chamber is filled with NSF H1 certified oil, according to FDA requirements, suitable for accidental contact with foodstuffs.
These pumps can be made in fixed executions, for direct coupling to the infeed-conveyor or executions on trolley complete of inlet hopper. Usable also without inlet hopper for transfer of wine, must, crushed grapes.
In addition, they use different types of process connections according to international standards (EN, DIN, ANSI, GAS and others) or have a special design. They are supplied in a basic configuration in food-grade aluminium alloy material, with interchangeable AISI 304 SS wear plates in the front and radial walls of the housing /cover.
The Agri-food Rotary Lobe Pumps – PLWX Series achieve flow rates up to 140 t/h and pressures up to 3 bar.

Compact and robust construction
The lobes and wear plates can be easily replaced by simply removing the front cover, without having to dismantle the pump housing or piping.
The front cover is supplied in aluminium, making it suitable for food contact.
Internal removable plates in AISI 304 SS.
Externally cured rubber on cast iron core, in a wide range of elastomers suitable for food contact (NBR, EDPM, and others on request).
The geometry of the straight 3-wing allows a suction capacity of up to 8-9 metres.
Different types of process connections are available according to international standards (EN, DIN, ANSI, GAROLLA, SMS, and others) or in special designs.
The pump housing is supplied in aluminium, making it suitable for food contact.
Mechanical seal with conical rings: easy assembly and disassembly and very small footprint (no measurements are required as the seal is loaded with the pump assembly). Base material AISI 304 with ceramic or tungsten carbide coating. Self-lubrication in an oil bath. Materiali base AISI 304 con rivestimento in ceramica o carburo di tungsteno. Auto-lubrificazione in bagno d’olio.
Synchronised precision gears with a 1:1 ratio allow concentric counter-rotation of the lobes. Pairs of high-strength tapered roller bearings. Depending on the version, there is the option of having a separation chamber between the pump compartment and the gearbox, eliminating the possibility of any product contamination and allowing constant lubrication of the mechanical seals.
In addition, an NSF H1-certified oil suitable for incidental contact with foodstuffs is used.
