LTM SERIES progressive cavity hopper pumps

PROGRESSIVE CAVITY HOPPER PUMPS AND INFEED SCREW MONOBLOCK PUMPS LTM SERIES

with direct coupling

THE IDEAL PUMPS FOR HIGHLY VISCOUS, COMPACT, DENSE AND/OR ABRASIVE MEDIA

The LTM SERIES progressing cavity hopper pumps are particularly suitable for pumping high viscosity non-flowing products, with or without suspended solids, including abrasive and non-friable products that tend to form bridges.

By minimising aeration and agitation of fluids, they ensure the gentle product conveyance without altering their organoleptic characteristics.

Wear parts can be easily replaced on site.

The LTM SERIES progressing cavity hopper pumps have a hopper design that allows easy entry of product into the pump; they are also equipped with an oversized infeed screw at high efficiency and profile to transfer sludge with high concentrations of solids that hasn’t the tendency to make bridge; the arragement is able sometimes to replace the bridgebreaker device.

Pump housing stator side entrance easily removable and washable.

Process connections can use different international standards (EN, DIN, ANSI, GAS and others), or they can have a special design.

They can also be supplied in different types of materials (e.g. CAST IRON, STAINLESS STEEL and others) depending on application contexts.

The LTM SERIES progressing cavity hopper pumps achieve flow rates up to 180 m³/h and pressures up to 24 bar.

They can also be supplied in a CUSTOM TM Series as progressive cavity hopper pumps, i.e. with independent bearing support, providing flow rates up to 260 m³/h and pressures up to 40 bar.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The rotor is available in many materials depending on the application: carbon steel with thick chrome plating, AISI 304 (1.4301) stainless steel, AISI 316 (1.4401) stainless steel and others on request. In addition, ‘standard pitch’ or ‘long pitch’ geometry is possible.

The stator is made of vulcanised rubber inside a steel tube, with integral seals on both in a variety elastomer (NBR, HNBR, EDPM, FPM and more on request). It is possible to have the stator inlet with hopper-shaped opening for improved feed of the product into the pumping part.

The coupling shaft with a special high-efficiency, high-profile pre-feeding screw for transmitting motion from the drive to the rotor can be made with different types of joints to suit various applications.

  • Cross-cover joint and/or homocardanic joint special for optimal fluid dynamic design, which is useful considering the application with sludge with high dryness concentration.

The pump housing is designed with a large hopper for optimal loading. There is a removable body with inspection/feeding opening before the stator for easy cleaning or maintenance; in addition, the hopper can be internally coated for optimal protection against abrasion and corrosion (optional).

Different types of process connections are available according to international standards (EN, DIN, ANSI, GAS and others) or in special designs. Different types of materials (e.g. CAST IRON, STAINLESS STEEL and others) are possible depending on application contexts.

There are various types of seals:

  • Gland Packing: standard seal with packed rings at low friction coefficient. Solution with low installation costs. Used in processes with medium solids content at medium abrasion. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 2 bar.
  • Gland packing with flushing: same as gland packing solution but with external fluxing. Suitable for processes with heavy fluid abrasion. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 2.5 bar.
  • Single component mechanical seal: mechanical seal constructed in accordance with EN 12756 (ex DIN 24960). Unbalanced. Two solutions are possible: single cylindrical spring with elastomer bellows or leaf spring and/or multi-spring and o-ring seal. Bi-directional direction of rotation. Suitable for processes with viscous products and low dry percentages. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.
  • Single mechanical seal with protected springs: mechanical seal constructed in accordance with EN 12756 (ex DIN 24960). Balanced. Mechanical seal with built-in shaft sleeve, single leaf spring and/or multi-spring protected. Bi-directional direction of rotation. Suitable for processes with very abrasive products and high dryness with solid particles in suspension. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.
  • Single mechanical seal with additional quench: suitable for solid medium, adhesive, crystallizing. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.
  • Back to back mechanical seal: solution with two back-to-back seals in which the faces are not in contact with the pumped medium. Suitable for solid medium, abrasive and aggressive. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.
  • Single mechanical seal for food grade products: mechanical seal constructed in accordance with UNI EN 12756 (ex DIN 24960). Balanced. Mechanical seal with built-in shaft sleeve, single leaf spring and/or multi-spring protected. Bi-directional direction of rotation. Easily cleaned free stagnation points. Suitable for FCMs (Food Contact Materials) processes. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.
  • Single mechanical seal external: mechanical seal constructed in accordance with EN 12756 (ex DIN 24960). Balanced. Bi-directional direction of rotation. Suitable for processes with very abrasive products and high dryness with solid particles in suspension. Pressure (on shaft seal): up to 12 bar.

The drive is directly flanged to the pump support lantern, resulting in compact dimensions, low total weight, easy maintenance and economic advantages.

The TM SERIES progressive cavity pumps design, equipped with an independent bearing support, allows coupling with any type of drive via a flexible coupling.
